New Group Offerings

SPACE Group

This spring, we are offering Supportive Parents for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) Group weekly. SPACE is a parent-based treatment program developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz for children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and related concerns. Parents will learn a specific framework to decrease parent or caregiver accommodation of anxiety behaviors and work to encourage their child’s resiliency.

SPACE aims to treat children and adolescents with anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder. While children do not attend group sessions, they’re the focus of the treatment and the client! Parents and guardians attend group sessions. When SPACE treatment is successful, children feel less anxious and function better.

SPACE can help with children experiencing:

  • separation anxiety

  • social anxiety

  • generalized anxiety

  • fears and phobias

  • panic disorder and agoraphobia

  • selective mutism

  • obsessive-compulsive disorder

Our SPACE group is facilitated by Clara Chandler, LPC-MHSP (temp.) and Charlotte Keeney, LCSW. This is an 8-week group, meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at our office in Green Hills. The group starts on March 5 and costs $800 per family to participate.
