Kara Gibbs, LCSW

Kara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 8 years of clinical experience. She is a person-centered therapist with the strong belief that an individual is the expert on their own experience and greatest resource for healing. Kara is an integrative therapist with experience working with adolescents, young adults, couples, and families employing a variety of techniques and interventions based on an individual or family’s needs. Kara primarily works with individuals ages 12-25. 

Kara is trained in administering substance use screenings that can provide direction in treatment planning and referral to appropriate services if needed. She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and employs EMDR in treatment of trauma and substance use disorders. In addition to being a therapist on the team at Symmetry, Kara is a full-time therapist at a high school, so she has experience working with all presenting problems that frequently occur in the adolescent population, including depressive disorders, anxiety, grief and loss, adjustment issues, interpersonal/relational issues, and family of origin issues.
